This week I spent four lovely days in the beautiful city of Denver. After only passing through on two separate occasions, it was nice to finally explore WashPark, the 16th Street Mall and Cherry Creek. Despite the mid-afternoon daily rainstorm (locals swear it's just a sign of summer) and the hot weather, I managed to squeeze in daily 3 mile walks and brief cab rides around the city. Check out my favorite spots in the city:
Cocktails:
- Colt & Gray - Yes, Colt & Gray has an extensive, creative cocktail menu, but order a bespoke. The bartender will customize a drink based on your liking and whether it's with cream de violette or rhubarb-insfused bourbon (I had both) you'll be amazed. Bonus: get the bacon caramel corn with spicy cashews for a snack.
Restaurants:
- Vesta Grill - Leave your order to Randy, he'll customize your meal with the perfect sides and sauces (3 with every course.) I suggest the lamb with the sauces that come with it + the sides that come with the duck. And the pork bite appetizer.
- Bones - The one place I really wanted to go to, but did not make it. (Next time!) I hear the pork shoulder udon bowl will rock your world.
Hotels:
- Hotel Teatro - A luxury hotel in downtown Denver filled with theatre memorabilia. Best bet: the two award-winning restaurants at either end of the lobby.
- Brown Palace - One step in and your transported to the Gatsby-era. The elegant decor and fancy, fancy Kennedy-esque vibe prevail in every single corner of this stunner.

Denver is a great town
